Pastor Tony joins with the congregation
of Heartland Metropolitan Community Church in welcoming all who
encounter our faith community with a spirit of radical hospitality,
as we share the inclusive love of Jesus with all people.

Rev. Tony Thieman-Somora, D.Min. has
been pastoring for over twenty years, and has been pastor for
Heartland MCC for the last two years. Pastor Tony has a background
in human resources (specializing in training and development-Bachelor
of Science degree) and holds a Master of Divinity degree
(specializing in spirituality and spiritual direction) from the
University of St. Mary of the Lake, a Doctorate in Pastoral
Counseling from the Graduate Theological Foundation and a certificate
in relationship and family therapy from the Meninger School of
Psychiatry and Mental Health Sciences.
He became a member of the
Metropolitan Community Churches at MCCSGL in St. Louis and was active
there in various ministries as well as at Holy Covenant MCC in
Brookfield,IL where he helped form the SAM (Social Action Ministry)
for the congregation. Pastor Tony is also a musician and composer,
recently composing a processional song for MCC entitled "Come
One, Come All!" Prior to coming to Springfield, Pastor Tony
worked with Northwestern Memorial Hospital Home Hospice in Chicago,
IL as a part-time chaplain and the coordinator of volunteer program.
Pastor Tony and his husband Tony Somora celebrated their Holy Union
at MCCGSL in 2006 and were legally married in Iowa in 2009.
