OPEN MINDS, OPEN HEARTS SPIRITUALITY GROUPS
Open Minds, Open Hearts Spirituality Groups are groups sponsored by Heartland MCC that have a focus of providing an open and accepting environment for people of different faith traditions and backgrounds to come together and study, learn and share together from their diverse spiritual backgrounds and support each other on their individual spiritual journeys.
Open Minds, Open Hearts Spirituality Groups meet at non-church locations and vary with each group how often they meet during the month. The purpose to offer a way of extending inclusion past our churches to people on a spiritual journey, but feel there is no place to come together and enjoy diversity and open and accepting discussions in a safe environment about each person’s individual spiritual journey. Because of MCC’s inquisitive theology, Heartland MCC has taken that and developed these groups to assist those who feel called to spirituality groups and centers. Heartland Metropolitan Community Church will support the small faith communities in prayer and encouragement and possible materials for these groups as they begin.
Someone, who is open to training, will be chosen from the each Open Minds, Open Hearts Spirituality Groups to assist in organizing, leading or coordinating leaders for discussion and in communicating information to and from Heartland Metropolitan Community Church.
At this time, there are two Open Minds, Open Hearts Spirituality Groups meetings, one in Jacksonville, IL and one in Bloomington-Normal, IL. One is being planned at the present time for Decatur, IL and another for Springfield, IL.
