Small Faith Communities Principles

Heartland MCC Small Faith Communities are extensions of Heartland Metropolitan Community Church, an inclusive Christian community of faith that practices radical hospitality and serves Central Illinois. Therefore, a Heartland Small Faith Community is a part of Heartland Metropolitan Community Church and those who belong to the small faith communities can become members of Heartland Metropolitan Community Church by attending membership classes at the church or membership classes offered on the local level at the small faith community. Membership in Heartland Metropolitan Community Church is not required to be a congregant at Heartland Metropolitan Community Church or to be involved in a Heartland MCC Small Faith Community.
A Heartland MCC Small Faith Community meets on a weekly basis in one of the towns/villages/cities in Central Illinois to continue the good work God has begun in each of us.
Heartland MCC Small Faith Communities are encouraged during their weekly time together to pray, learn through study and adult formation accomplished on the local level, and to seek ways to live out the Good News of God's inclusive love in Jesus in their local communities.
Heartland Metropolitan Community Church will support the small faith communities in prayer and encouragement. Materials, etc. needed for the small faith communities will also be available from the Church in Springfield.
A Lay Minister, who is open to training, will be chosen from the local small faith community to assist in organizing and leading the weekly session and in communicating information from Heartland Metropolitan Community Church.
